THE CHALLENGES

Challenges that limit growth

WISPs face constant pressure to expand coverage, increase subscriber density, and reduce cost-per-subscriber — without sacrificing reliability that drives churn.

Tower Congestion Limits Revenue

Adding subscribers beyond a tower's capacity degrades service for all existing customers. Without proper frequency planning and hardware selection, subscriber growth creates churn — growth becomes self-defeating.

Backhaul Bottlenecks Throttle Throughput

A tower with 1 Gbps of subscriber capacity connected to headquarters with 100 Mbps of backhaul creates a permanent bottleneck that no amount of subscriber equipment upgrades can solve.

Difficult Terrain Limits Coverage

Mountains, valleys, and large water bodies create challenging radio propagation environments. Effective WISP expansion requires terrain analysis and relay point placement to reach all target subscribers.

Network Management At Scale

Managing 500+ CPE devices, 20+ towers, and hundreds of subscriber accounts manually creates overwhelming operational overhead. Proper NOC infrastructure is essential for sustainable WISP growth.

THE SOLUTIONS

One ecosystem. Maximum subscriber density.

UNIFI.DO is the Caribbean's premier Ubiquiti WISP deployment partner — designing tower networks, backhaul links, and subscriber CPE systems to maximize your revenue per tower.

NOC Infrastructure & Monitoring

A properly instrumented WISP NOC monitors all tower links, subscriber signal levels, and uplink utilization in real time. Automated alerts identify degrading subscribers before they call support — reducing churn proactively.

THE BUSINESS CASE

Infrastructure that maximizes revenue per tower.

Maximum Revenue Per Tower

Proper frequency planning, hardware selection, and tower configuration allows 30-50% more subscribers per tower compared to generic configurations. UNIFI.DO-optimized towers generate significantly more revenue per tower per year.

Backhaul That Scales With You

airFiber backbone links scale to 10 Gbps per hop — consistently ahead of subscriber demand growth. We design backhaul topology for 5-year growth projections, so you never face a complete backhaul redesign when you add subscribers.

Proactive Subscriber Management

Our WISP NOC service monitors every subscriber link 24/7. When a subscriber's signal drops below threshold (often due to vegetation or dish movement), we notify before they complain — turning potential churners into satisfied customers.

USE CASES

Solutions for every WISP scenario

Rural Community Coverage

Rural communities without fiber access are served by tower-based PtMP systems covering 15-50km radius. UNIFI.DO designs complete rural WISP deployments including tower site selection, frequency coordination, and subscriber installation support.

Urban Densification

Urban WISPs competing with cable operators need to maximize subscriber density in small geographic areas. High-frequency (60 GHz, 5 GHz) OFDMA systems with tight geographic reuse maximize urban throughput and subscriber density.

Island & Coastal Coverage

Caribbean island WISPs face unique challenges — salt air corrosion, hurricane-force winds, and inter-island backhaul over water. UNIFI.DO deploys marine-rated, hurricane-wind-rated hardware designed for island environments.

Resort & Tourism Broadband

Tourism-heavy areas need broadband delivered to dispersed resorts and villas in areas where fiber installation is impractical. WISPs serving tourism markets command premium pricing for reliable, high-speed connectivity.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

With proper 4-sector design using 120° sector antennas and airMAX AC Lite/Pro APs, a properly designed tower can reliably serve 700-1,200 subscribers depending on the speed tiers offered. OFDMA technology in the latest equipment dramatically increases subscriber density compared to older TDMA-based airMAX platforms. UNIFI.DO performs radio frequency modeling of each tower site to optimize the sector configuration for maximum subscriber capacity.

Ubiquiti airFiber links rated for 100+ km under ideal conditions. In Caribbean environments with potential tropical rain events, we recommend designing for 80% link margin which achieves reliable operation to approximately 50-70 km. For longer distances, we design multi-hop topologies with intermediate relay sites — sometimes on mountaintops or elevated structures — with each hop providing 10 Gbps of throughput.

All outdoor equipment installed by UNIFI.DO is evaluated against the ANSI/TIA-222 wind rating standard appropriate for the installation location. Ubiquiti's antenna mounting hardware is rated for winds up to 200 km/h. We use stainless steel fasteners and marine-grade coax connectors throughout. Tower mounts are torqued to manufacturer specifications and inspected annually. Post-hurricane remote signal monitoring identifies any link degradation requiring physical inspection.

Yes — UNIFI.DO provides complete WISP NOC design and setup including UISP installation and configuration, SNMP monitoring for all tower equipment, subscriber link quality dashboards, automated alert rules for signal degradation, and training for your NOC staff. We also offer a managed NOC service where our team monitors your network 24/7 and dispatches alerts to your field team.

UniFi gateways integrate natively with UISP for subscriber account management. For WISPs using other billing platforms (Powercode, Sonar, Splynx), we configure RADIUS authentication that automatically applies speed tier policies based on the billing platform's provisioned service level. Subscriber disconnection for non-payment and automatic reconnection after payment are handled without manual network intervention.
